Learn More About iSPACE STEM
STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills are often discussed when educators get together. But why should this be important to parents and students?
A 21st century education blurs the lines between subjects in school and it is no longer appropriate or beneficial to the student to separate subjects into silos. Rather students learn better by integrating STEM subjects with each other and with other disciplines. Students who learn to communicate must be able to use technology. The skills learned in solving mathematical problems can be used to find answers in social studies, geography, and art. Conducting scientific experiments means being able to work together in teams.
Learning STEM skills can make students more successful throughout school. A child’s natural curiosity can be focused through hands-on projects and scientific inquiry. iSPACE provides opportunities for these experiences with entire classes or individual students.
And, of course, the world needs more scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. STEM skills are a path to career success. iSPACE gives students the chance to assume the role of someone in a STEM career so they can try it on for size and see themselves as a scientist or engineer.
